Our love letters and day‐to‐day communications from October to December 1998. No emails saved by me to Ann for 1998 but all of them from Ann to me, are here. Back then, AOL was fairly new. One could look for compatible profiles and we became acquainted very briefly through the chat room and then much more substantially using their immediate message "IM" systems; AOL Chat, as well as through copious emails. I did record the texts from a few of our AOL Chats which I've included here.

Hello Mal,

Thanks for the pics- i have not yet upzipped them- i will try to do so when i get back- got a craving for some chocolates- coffee truffles -got to have them :)

I will send a picture of me too ! Got to get something for dinner tonight- something easy!. Chat to you soon , love Ann

Hello Mal

This was taken at one of those one hour studio places back in march this year. Their lighting was not good - i dont have black hair at all ! Its darkish brown , only.

Ann

This was take at Easter this year, on the 3 rd floor terrace ..Notice the left over roofing stuff, that was from the roofer who had just once again patched up the 14 year almost unfixable leak that comes in off the terrace and down through the second floor ceiling !! :) p.s still got to unzip your pics you sent early on . Take care Mal

Hello Mal,

How are you doing? i am so tired and knocked out- finished work this evening and then had to rush to the pharmacy to pick up my boys inhalent! they were a day late even getting it in! yes the houses built around here before the turn of the century all have unique styling about them- some of them are really strange with turret shaped round attick rooms- - they must be nice inside though- those round rooms! the roofs are all peaked Mal- some more than others! i will scan a picture of my house this week-end and you can see what mine looks like for yourself!!

They knocked down two beautiful old houses 5 years ago on my block, they were enormous ones , both owned by a widow who died and left it to the son and daughter who squabbled about who got what! it ended up with a builder buying both the adjoining houses for a song and putting up five, three family homes, each one went for $475.000!! unbelievable!!. but they were brick and thats what new houses go for around here The builders make a huge profit- scouting for old houses and buying them up and putting up new brick boxes (with tiny rooms) you get nothing for the money really- no garden hardly and small kitchens and not very large rooms- when they were building them i took a look inside Mal, there was one room you could hardly put a baby crib in it- so tiny it was! , but still they sold each one And like you said the other day builders use cheap materials- as soon as we got a gale the roofing tiles were already blowing off the new houses and the new owners were looking upset- i woud be too - having paid so much to have it coming off so soon! lol

At least my roof leaks 'cause its old :) My neighbour accross the road has an old 1971, 2 door white caddy!! its only got 44,000 on it- it has been garaged for most of the time , but the poor man has the same problem with his regular car as me(leakage of anti- freeze)Everyday he has to add water- i told him that its a serious problem we both have . So he is using this old caddy , and i see that its getting rusted very quickly since its been out of the garage, its a shame-its a classic you dont see any more. And the more he drives it , the more he might get it damaged!

Well i hope i have not typed too much Mal and i will finish now- hope your web site is coming along good.

Take care

Love Ann

Hello Mal

How are you? ia am ok, and Michael's asthama has improved for now thank goodness, i am working on reducing his weight- a long term process that cannot be done overnight! I have browsed the web and looked up Bletchingley, yes The White Hart is the place! There is a picture even, and the building next to it is the staff house (its is still standing) :) looks like there were no others as careless as i since then. I took a couple of pictures of my house , but Richard said that when he scans the computor freezes up( the Dell) the new one- its something to do with the drivers -its a packard Bell 5100c- the scanner, i bought it this May and it was for windows 95- we have since got windows 98 and we had to get the 98 drivers for it! Somehow it still is not working ! its not configured properely i guess- have to get someone to look at it.

Take care ,

Love Ann

Hello Mal,

Thanks for your e-mail, glad your getting your VAT stuff sorted out- hope you get a rebate- you pay more than enough tax over there as it is!! Yes i still have an accent, but its not really a strong northen one, its a mixture of a bit of northern mixed with welsh from my father and country accent from my mother who was from Hereford and of course there's a bit of american in it too now, but people over here are amazed that i have not lost it after so long!! a few people think i am Irish, my accent is a bit hard to decipher now- all mixed up!

Yes i have my stereo, i got it about 6 days ago- its a nice Sony, it has good sound. I am looking forward to the CD's you are sending to me- its very nice of you Mal.. i had to drive 30 minutes today to go after the roofer- my roof still lets in the rain and he did not return the messages i left on his machine- about 5 in all- i found him just locking up his place for the night- he seemed, or pretended to be surprised at not getting my messages.. He told me he will come tomorrow(23rd) to fix it again! i dont think it will ever really get fixed without there being a really big repair job- i think it needs to have the entire terrace floor re-done - he has not said but this is what i think- but i am not about to do that- hope he can patch it up again for the winter!!

My computor froze totally on me last night Mal- i was browsing the web - looking up something on gargoyles ( i collect them) well, ones that i think are cute anyway and i found a site called"cool gargoyles" i clicked on it and it froze my pc . i could not even turn it off - had to use the switch around the back, and re-boot up again; i hate to have to do that- ! it was ok last night- but this morning it froze on me again- i hope that stupid site did not give me a virus or something- Richard said that certain sites are hostile and can damage your computor- not going there again and am going to be more careful in the future where i do go!!

I am looking forward to chatting to you again soon Mal .I am looking forward to a night out this week with my friend from Manhattan too ! I really need to relax and take my mind off things- could do with a good laugh! I will finish my -e mail now.

Take care Mal,

See you soon,

Love Ann x x x

Hello there Mal,

Today was a busy day for me- i had the technician over and he had to do several things on my computor including checking the fan to see if there was a wire near it , because last week the pc was making a really loud noise! He said everything looks ok, but i asked him why it was making a noise and he said he didnt know- said that if it happens again the fan is probably no good and he will replace it- He also got my pc up to over 90 % system response- it was only 77% the other day- not enough to run aol so good .He removed the firewall that Richard had put on it in july too, i dont know why he put it on to begin with.

He also installed a new printer on the Dell ,it did not have one that worked- i got an Epson 800. he also saw immediately why the scaner freezes up the Dell! - because the Hewlard Packed scanner is a SCSI He said its conflicting with the computor and is hopeless- i thought it was a driver problem- he told me first thing on monday i must called up HP and tell them that a want a replacment scanner with pararall port! I only purchased it in May so surely they will give me a replacement Mal? what do you think?

So many problems with computors :( its a beautiful clear night here - i walked the dog and look up as as i always do- the sky was nice and clear and there was a cresent moon and lots of visible stars. I will be on and off the computor tomorrow- hope we get to chat- Oh, and as he was leaving, i noticed that i had no sound on my computor and so he put back the sound for me- it was not till later that i saw that he put jungle sounds on it- its really fun- a rattlesnake sound and lions roaring when you click on different things or do other such tasks. Even thunder when i power down, I like things like that dont you :)

Well Mal take care

See you soon,

Love Ann x x x

p.s. i am home tonight as my girlfriend is in the hospital- she collapsed at work and they said she is suffering from exhaustion- thats what working 12 hours a day , 5 days a week for the past 3 years does to you! But she does not have it so bad 'cause she is in a private room - she says its like the Waldorf Astoria- and what her insurance does not pick up her boss says he will take care of- a surcharge of $600 per day- i told her to stay as long as she can- she needs a rest. So thats why i am not out tonight! bye for now.

Have a Happy VAT day Mal,

Love,

Ann x x :)

AOL CHAT:

AnnUK: good evening Mal , are you busy?
MMalachy: Not too busy to chat to you Ann!
AnnUK: ok how did your vat stuff go ?
MMalachy: Very good - I overpaid by £6000!!!! :)
AnnUK: so you'll reap some benefit next tax time then!
MMalachy: Hows everything
AnnUK: oh ok
AnnUK: itd getting quite cold here- Michael is trying to not over eat , but it a hard thing - like every addiction i suppose!
MMalachy: now I have corporation tax to deal with and income tax! :(
AnnUK: :( it never ends for you does it?
MMalachy: I still have the CDs here to send to you - I got some packing materials and will try and get round to it on the weekend.
AnnUK: ok mal
MMalachy: Any joy with the roof?
AnnUK: oh a lot of things happening there
MMalachy: How about the scanner?
AnnUK: first , the orginal rooferwent into hiding and then i have had some high estimes from a few others, and now the orriginal one called me up last night and wants to finish th job- but i ahve not heard from him today
AnnUK: the scanner is still not hooked up correctly- its definately a paralall port one though
AnnUK: i got back the pictures i took of the house and other thing today- i just have to scan them now
MMalachy: Thanks for the e-mail on VAT day - it cheered me up. The guy was very good and wrote an account for me - although I overpaid I still had to pay a penalty about a grand for not completing the returns.
AnnUK: they always seem to get you someway- thats not peanuts - a grand! :(
MMalachy: true - I will make an effort to be more diligent in the future.
AnnUK: yes- i know- i have tried doing thing myself and in the end it didnt pay
MMalachy: The weather has turned cold here as well Ann. How's your friend - still in hospital?
AnnUK: yes mal she is, she has had a breakdown it turns out- they transfered her the the pshychiatric wing
MMalachy: thats too bad - did it happen through overwork
AnnUK: no- they say she is prone to depression and nothing in particular triggers it off-
MMalachy: sorry to hear that, hope she makes a recovery.
AnnUK: i was the one who first told her to go and see a doctor- she kept telling me she wanted to commit suicide
AnnUK: the final straw was th night she told me she was trying to cook some dinner and felt like lying her head in the oven-!! i tried to joke about it- told her all she would get would be a big gas bill- but i was very concerned
MMalachy: sounds bad - I've heard of clinical depression - spike milligan suffered from it although I believe it was alleviated through medication.
AnnUK: yes she si on 3 different types of medication now- and will probably have to take it for life- they said that the depression she is suffering from gets worse with each episode
AnnUK: she hopes to go home tomorrow and get bac k to work by next week
MMalachy: do you have daylight saving over there?
AnnUK: yes we do - last saturday- same as you
MMalachy: it's pitch black here at the moment ann
AnnUK: yes i know- its gets dark early now:( i dont like it too much, means winter is approaching
AnnUK: mal you know something - i hate lawyers - very much!!
AnnUK: i have a good reason to
MMalachy: make sure you've got plenty of anti-freeze in the car, Ann!! :|
MMalachy: why (lawyers)
AnnUK: yes - oh i forgot to tell you they found the leak- it was a simple hose - found by a pressure check- i am ok now
MMalachy: good - have you had misfortune from the legal profession?
AnnUK: well when i lost my husband i was app;rrrroached by a"scout" for a big law company
AnnUK: right in the hospital
AnnUK: he asked me details- my husband was not yet gone at the time
MMalachy: that's terrible
AnnUK: yes:(
MMalachy: hope you told him to get on his bike (or in his cadillac)
AnnUK: well i was in grief for ages and 3 weeks from the time he died they had me taken in a limo- signing a wrongful death lawsuit-which i have been forever trying to cancel- i honestly did not k now what i wasding at the time
AnnUK: its eating me up- i want to forget and they have me like a pitbull bythe ankle
MMalachy: what's the latest on this then ann; I don't understand.
AnnUK: well- i got a call from them yesterday- they want me to go give my deposition on Monday- they tell me i cant justdrop such negligance
AnnUK: they want to to persue something that i long ago wanted to drop-
MMalachy: were you persuaded to sign a law suit against the hospital?
AnnUK: i dont want any monies i might get down t he road- i cant rehash up what happened- and thats what i ahve to do with a deposition
AnnUK: yesi was persuaded mal- less than 3 weeks after i lost my husband
AnnUK: i was a doctors wife and i really dont want to do it- i have told them time and time again to let it be-
MMalachy: you have to go into court or can you give a written deposition?
AnnUK: i have to go to the lawyers office and give it- its an all day thing can last for up to 8 hours :(
MMalachy: sounds awful
AnnUK: there will never be closure with this thing hanging over me Mal!
AnnUK: there is no money in the world worth it-
AnnUK: even though they were extremely neglegent- it wont bring him back
MMalachy: well, I suppose it is best to get the thing out of the way, Ann. I hope it wont be too much of an ordeal for you. x
AnnUK: i had a psychic premonition i would hear this week Mal -! my mother had these premoenitions and i , now get them too!! that was my first one a nasty feeling came over me on saturday- and i knew!!! i woud hear and i did
AnnUK: :(
AnnUK: this is how it goes
AnnUK: i give my deposition, then the hospital go to the same office and give one usually within a few weks and then you are put on a long waiting list for a trial
AnnUK: oh mal if only the "other" side knew how i felt- about not wanting to do it!!
AnnUK: i would give the world to have never signed- but i was not in my right mind at the time- in deep grief!! - thats when they get you!!
AnnUK: so- today- i feel down! and miserable and nervous
MMalachy: sorry to hear that Ann - I will make an effort to get the CDs off to you before the weekend - there is some nice music on them to cheer you up a bit. how's the new hifi?
AnnUK: its good mal- i get enjoyement out of it thanks
MMalachy: has Micheal lost any weight yet
AnnUK: well i have not weighed him- but he keep on pulling up his pants- so looks like they are getting slightly lose on him- a good sign
AnnUK: he goes to the weight thereapist once a week- and the therapist asked me in private if i have a scalesbecause michael had told him we dont- i told him "oh yes we have scales" looks like michael told a little fib there
AnnUK: he wants me to weight him every morning- but micael is refusing!
MMalachy: sounds promising - hope he is able to keep up the diet - maybe he doesn't like using scales. I was looking for some postcards today to send with the CDs - not many shops sell them anymore for some strange reason. anyway I did find some of surrey and will send
MMalachy: none of the white hart though
AnnUK: no- well they are on the web any way :)
MMalachy: are they on there advertising as an hotel, ann?
AnnUK: i went to a comedy club with my other friend last night- we had a few drinks- she is recovering from a cartlidge operation on her knee- she injured it rollerblading!!
AnnUK: they are advertising it as a very old inn - nothing about the food etc though
MMalachy: right. our team is going out to a place called the comedy store in London for our christmas do this year - do you get one too?
AnnUK: it was part of a group of pictures of Bletchingley- including the St. MAry's church- very old !
AnnUK: i have not heard of that one- we have a good one called CAroline's comedy club in the city- i have not been though- went fairly local last night
MMalachy: because of my sheltered existence, I've not been out to any place like that - it sounds fun though and I'm looking forward to it.
AnnUK: yes - you'll have a good time Mal
AnnUK: i am so relieved that car leak has been solved- just got to get the roof leak fixed now
MMalachy: hope your roof man gets his act together
AnnUK: i hope so- because i think i will use this russian man that came over today- a lot of people use him and he gave me a fairly decent price quote! $350- one yesterday wanted $450
MMalachy: do you have a lodger where the water comes in?
AnnUK: yes- -its funny mal the leak is from a long deep valley on one side of t he roof - the peak and it bypasses the third floor and come through the ceilling on the second floor-0 and t hey are people who have good furtnure too- dont want them sueing me for damage- got to get it fixed NOW- they might withhold the rent too andi need it for my morgage!
AnnUK: my head is spinning from all these t hing Mal- the roofers with their high prices and promises to come and never show- the depeosition on monday :( fed up
AnnUK: plase excuse my spelling today
MMalachy: Sorry you're having such a bad time Ann, hope everything works out ok soon.
AnnUK: thank Mal- i suppose things go in cycles- good things and bad thing - what do you think?
MMalachy: they say bad things happen in 3s, Ann
MMalachy: When the first one happens to me I'm always waiting for the next 2.
AnnUK: i hope i have had the 3 things Mal- well Michael and his asthama, the lawsuit and the leaks - thats 3 correct :)
MMalachy: I wonder if good things happen in 3s??? (I am the optimist)
AnnUK: i hope so- that would be a nice thing
MMalachy: Hows work Ann - flogged any more scent? :)
AnnUK: lately i dont get any good things happening- hope that changes !!
AnnUK: oh yes- i flogg a bit now and then :)
AnnUK: it keeps my mind off things
MMalachy: any joy with looking for work 'off the books'
AnnUK: no- havent had time to look too much
MMalachy: My brother ben is sending some pix of the square four and I will mail them to you Ann. we've had a few lenghty (but clean) jokes circulating on our email at the office - I'll copy these to you as well
AnnUK: ok mal thats will be fun
MMalachy: He has an outfit with a Hillman Imp engine in it (m/cycle & sidecar)
AnnUK: oh does he- is taht a vintage one too?
MMalachy: the hillman imp was a tiny car like those little fiats you see in old films - the engine can be fitted (and has been) to a BSA frame and the boot of the sidecar has the radiator in it.
AnnUK: i think i have heard of it- it sounds familiar Mal
AnnUK: i was on a web site the other night- looking up vintage motorbikes
MMalachy: See anything you fancied?
AnnUK: post war vicents
AnnUK: -sorry vincents
MMalachy: You have expensive taste, ann!
AnnUK: i remember by brother having motorbike mags pilled up to t he ceiling mal - up to the very top of the ceiling!!
AnnUK: i was just curious to what they looked like actually- wanted to seee what all the fuss was about!!
MMalachy: A good Vincent Rapide costs about £12000 here
AnnUK: not very pretty looking things are they!
AnnUK: yes - i know thats about the cost of t hem- i talked to my brother about bikes sometimes
MMalachy: No - but well ahead of their time 1000cc twins
AnnUK: yes
AnnUK: i suppose they are liked for their speed mostly!!
MMalachy: Yes - that and their rarity You can shop around and get a much lower price but you end up spending the difference getting it to concours condition.
AnnUK: yes- i know what you mean- eitherway you have to pay a lot
MMalachy: My brother knows a guy in Birmingham who put a Harley engine into a Square four frame to good effect.
AnnUK: did it work out well?
MMalachy: apparently so. Do you like the HDs
MMalachy: are there lots of them about there
AnnUK: i was just going to say before - i am not so crazy about them to be truthful
MMalachy: Do you see many outfits there (bike + sidecar)?
AnnUK: although thee is a nice cafe here called the Harley davidson- in the city- its dark with beautiful harley high up on the wall- they play rock there- tourists like it
AnnUK: i have never seen a single sidecar here Mal
AnnUK: all i see here are mostly japanese t hings and an occasional Harley
AnnUK: do you like Harley's? Mal
MMalachy: I think if I get another bike, it'll be a modern italian bike or a classic BMW. Harleys are ok in the States where the roads are long and straight but I think they're a bit troublesome to drive here on our roads although you do see a lot of them in London
AnnUK: yes i think i know what you mean
AnnUK: i am going to send you that pic of that old 71 caddy- you will never find a place to park THAT in london :)
MMalachy: Same brother (ben) recently bought a lovely maserati
AnnUK: oh did he?
MMalachy: yes - went up to Birmingham to have a look at it a couple of months ago - it's great a deep red colour but has left hand drive (ok over there).
AnnUK: yes- its left hand over here- sound a lovely colour!!
MMalachy: when you're in it it seems about 2ft high, you're practically lying down when your driving along. He keeps it well out of harms way most of time it is in a garage - a good investment as well
MMalachy: even though he couldn't afford it !
MMalachy: still - he's an engineer and loves that stuff
AnnUK: yes- i dont think i would like to be so low driving in that Mal
MMalachy: he did a good job on the sq4 engine
AnnUK: its good to be able to do all your own mechanical stuff yiourself!
AnnUK: the stock market is re-bounding thank goodness!
MMalachy: its the only way Ann - if you can - at least you have no one to blame except yourself if it goes wrong.
AnnUK: i know mal
MMalachy: stock market - is it! I was going to ask a colleague at work about that
AnnUK: yes- my kids colleg fund took a terrible beating a month ago- lost like $5000
MMalachy: will you be able to recover that if the market improves?
AnnUK: oh yes Mal - just long as you leave it alone and dont touch it- i have already recovered about $2000
AnnUK: most of what i have is in safe goverment bonds!!
MMalachy: good. We are still waiting for my dad's estate to be settled by trustees (more bloody lawyers). Two of us six want to take their share in cash.
MMalachy: It may mean selling some property
MMalachy: the rest of us want to hang on to the property and take income from that
AnnUK: estates are never settled so easily are they?
AnnUK: how i do mortally detest lawyers!!!
MMalachy: what would you do - keep the property (and get rents) or sell, take the money and run, Ann?
AnnUK: i am not sure- i would sit down with a calculator and work out how much i would get per annum against wha ti would get in cash i guess- thats how i would do it
MMalachy: Yes - its very difficult - once you sell the property theres no asset there any more
AnnUK: if you can get GOOD rents its probably good to keep the property- but if some people want quick cash they wont want to get months rents
AnnUK: i would probably keep the property
MMalachy: One of the properties is my mum's old surgery - there is now a betting shop on the ground floor (its in the Kings Road) - they pay a very high rent even for that part of London.
AnnUK: yes- well if you can you should definately hold on to it mal
AnnUK: you cant go wrong
MMalachy: there is - dare I say it - a lawyer / accountant living (or so he says) in the rest of the building - and he pays a pittance in rent.
AnnUK: kick him out lol
MMalachy: We reckon he's sub letting it and raking in a small fortune.
AnnUK: and get a decent rent for it
AnnUK: yes he has to be sub letting
MMalachy: In one of our family meetings we decided to hire a gumshoe to see whether he is acutally living there
AnnUK: and did you find out yet?-
MMalachy: BUT again, we are at the mercy of other lawyers to settle the estate before we can take any action - typical eh Ann?
AnnUK: :( yes mal (sigh) typical
AnnUK: so you are looking at quite a length of time yet then before most is settled !
MMalachy: Well - this business has been going on for just over a year now - who knows.
MMalachy: An older brother is dealing with them
AnnUK: yes- if ever i decide to sell my house its quite a income producer- its a 3 family house and i get almost 2000 per month- BUT...my morgage is also 2000 per month-
AnnUK: :(
AnnUK: my husband cancelled the morgage life insurance without telling me- :( so i am stuck with a huge morgage!!0 thank goodnessi can write off the dam thing in tax quite a bit!
AnnUK: i make $100 per month off the books - letting my driveway to a man who owns a carpet shop- parking space is like gold around here
MMalachy: O good - at least like us you have the prospect of a very nice asset when the mortgage gets paid off. Do you know, Ann - I haven't had a single piece of correspondence directly from the solicitors ? >:
AnnUK: really- you should call them up and find out what happening- where their up to etc!
AnnUK: you should be kept up to date
MMalachy: The very thought of having to do that fills me with revulsion! I prefer to liaise with my brother.
MMalachy: he doesn't mind keeping in touch with them
AnnUK: well if he can liaise with them better t han you ,do it that way mal
AnnUK: i know- i hate talking ever to them- i get nervous- god how i dread monday mal-
MMalachy: It's like a little club of their own
MMalachy: With their own rules
AnnUK: yes- and no once but them ever can join!!
AnnUK: they all know each other - from the courts-
AnnUK: opposite sides in court and playing racket ball after!! :(
AnnUK: you really have to have a love of the law to be one- and be a good liar too!!
AnnUK: so they say !
MMalachy: Let them do their own thing Ann - and let us get on with life in the real world
AnnUK: yes
AnnUK: monday hangs over me like a black shadow Mal
AnnUK: cant wait for it to be over!!
MMalachy: Well, again I hope it doesn't stress you out too much. I hope you're able to get the thing over and done with and forget about it for a while.
AnnUK: yes- well its going to stress me out- i know it- and then there are the letters which will keep on coming telling me the latest things about the case etc-
AnnUK: i want to have a fairly nice christmas this year- last year was not so good and the year before that was the worst of course- losing my husband- bleak christmasd tat was!! got to try and make the best of things now
MMalachy: Right - got any plans for this year
AnnUK: not really-might have a small party - put up decorations
AnnUK: have my friends over- play music
MMalachy: Even though I'm here on my own I always put up decorations
AnnUK: yes- well even the year m y husband died i put up a tree
MMalachy: Will probably go over to my sisters on Christmas day - see 2 of my nephews again
AnnUK: thats nice
AnnUK: how old are they?
MMalachy: 7 and 8 Jonathan and Samuel
AnnUK: i see
AnnUK: two boys
AnnUK: like me :)
AnnUK: hows your web site coming along is it finished yet?
MMalachy: they live over in Southfields (near Wimbledon)
AnnUK: oh yes- ?
MMalachy: Web site is coming along - but I have a load of genealogical info to enter - I have been trying OCR (optical character recognition) software to save me typing in a lot of stuff. The basic engine for presenting the stuff is in place. Also on the site are a lot of photos by my Uncle Jack.
AnnUK: sounds complicated to me ! :)
AnnUK: my sons type accurately over 100 wpm- their fingers fly
AnnUK: its facinates me to watch- i am not that fast- like about 35 wpm
AnnUK: they actually type faster than that poor friend of minein the hospital- she does like about 80- ans she considers herself fast!!
MMalachy: I am 60 wpm I think but this time of the evening 30 complicated - It is Ann, I'm using the latest Microsoft stuff - they've brought out a new version just recently so I'm studying that at the moment. I use ASP with VB Script for part of the site.
AnnUK: so its easy to use then!
AnnUK: sorry- its not easy to use- i miss read that!!
MMalachy: The site front end is looking ok and navigation is easy
AnnUK: thats good- so its quite a long project!!
MMalachy: Yes - particularly the genealogy which contains a huge amout of data most of which is still on paper (in family records).
AnnUK: i see
MMalachy: Very interesting though - found distant cousins on the web - even pictures (in germany
) AnnUK: no wonder i see you logged on for hours on end!!
MMalachy: one of them runs a film production company.
AnnUK: oh yes
AnnUK: must tire your eyes mal- all those hours!!
MMalachy: one's does scientific research in the states
AnnUK: really? thats interesting!
MMalachy: glad I got my eyes examined and new spex
AnnUK: you'll need them with all those hours in front of the monitor- hope thieir anti- reflective ones! mine are
MMalachy: Have you eaten yet Ann?
AnnUK: no mal - i am marinating some steak for the kids- iam not hungry myself- going to make it soon
MMalachy: I'm gonna go make myself something - it's late here (10.21)
MMalachy: I am hungry!
AnnUK: are you going to eat a snakc or is that dinner your going to eat?

Hello Mal,

Thanks for the joke it was quite funny actually,i saw a funny slogan on a tee shirt in one of my catalogues the other day- it was for coffee lovers - it read "Drink up your coffee, there are people in India sleeping!" I thought it was amusing-- only one person didnt get it!! i hope you do..It is 2 :30 in the afternoon and i am just sitting , browsing and worrying about Monday:( even bought bottle of Sandemans Port- going to have a drink ! even though i am like you and dont usually have one on my own- todays the excepion to the rule - I hope there is some left over for Christmas.

I bought the port on the way home from picking up Richard from school, today he took the SAT test , a very hard, important test which vastly affects getting into the college of your choice.. He did not look very happy so i guess he found it quite hard.. Todays SAT was in Math and English. I am going to try and get the scanner working by Tuesday so i can show you my happy home!!

Well Mal , please wish me luck for my unpleasant ordeal on Monday- how i wish i didnt have to go through with it- those blasted lousy lawyers! :(

Take care Mal,

Love Ann x x x

Hello Mal,

Just thought you would like to know that your cd's arrived here safely by the mid morning mail.. I have taken a look at them and they look really great! I am looking forward to having a while to myself to listen to them..I have to rush out now and pick up the boys(lazythings) from school, and at 4 pm Michael has to be brought to the weight counselour.

I am looking forward to chatting with you soon Mal and will say bye for now and again thanks!

Take care,

Ann x x x

P.S. i put my monitor on high resolution and its killing my eyes- the text is very small- think i'll change it back.

Hello Mal,

I dowloaded yor pictures after we spoke, thats a real beauty of a bike and , i can see why your so proud of it! your brothers car is lovely too- so sleek, nice shade of red ! I know my mother once had relatives in Birmingham too- but i have no idea where they are . Your not fat at all Mal , you look fine and dandy :) I have an inferiority complex myself- i am always getting told off by my friends for it too, but i cant help itI. I have a pretty good idea why i have one- Mel- that was my husband(short for Melvin) used to say to me inferiority complexes nearly always stem back to childhood, well thats probably true because growing up i was on the fat side, i happen to lose it when i was about 15, but in my early school years i remember being made fun of- its a nasty thing to remember.

Thats why i feel so much for poor Michael, only i was not an overeater myself- it was just "puppy fat" as they call it. Well Mal ,i will finish now- i have to go and look in my mail box see if anything important came, like a letter from Marshalls'

Tonight i take both kids to see the lung doc- Richard has asthma too- terrible thing- the pollution does not help things by a long way either! :(

Take care Mal,

Bye for now,

Love Ann x x x

HELLO MAL,

hOW ARE YOU? I AM NOT SO BAD- BUT MY BACK STILL HURTS FROM A BIT OF A WHIPLASH I GOT A WEEK AGO, STUPID WOMAN WAS BACKING OUT OUT OF A DRIVEWAY AND DID NOT STOP FOR ME, I WENT FORWARD AND I WAS NOT WEARING ASEATBELT!

i FOUND OUT A LITTLE ABOUT WHERE gEORGE gERSWIN WAS BORN AND RAISED, THE MAN WHO DRIVES MY KIDS TO SCHOOL SOMETIMES SAID THAT HE READ IN THE NEWSPAPERS RECENTLY THAT gERSWIN LIVED EITHER IN eAST NEW yORK, bROOKLYN, OR BRONWSVILLE, bROOKLYN, ... tHE HOUSE STILL STANDS BUT THOSE AREAS FELL IN THE EARLY 50'S TO DRUGS AND CRIME.. i WAS RIGHT mAL THOSE WERE OLD jEWISH AREAS! mR tHOMAS COULD NOT REMEMBER WHIC H AREA IT WAS, BUT IT WAS ONE OF THOSE TWO, THAT, HE DID REMEMBER.

tHE ARTICLE WAS WRITTEN BECAUSE OF THE CENTENNIAL OF HIS BIRTH... tHERE ARE STILL COMMERCIAL BUSINESSES AND OUTLETS THERE - IN FACT A CONTRACTOR WE ONCE USED GOT HIS SUPPLIES FROM eAST nEW YORK, BUT AT NIGHT !! FORGET ABOUT WALKING THERE IF YOUR WHITE!!! IF YOUR WHITE, YOUR NOT ALLRIGHT! lOL tHEY EVEN KILL THEIR OWN KIND BECAUSE THEY ARE MOSTLY DRUG ADDICTS...NO DECENT WORKING CLASS BLACK PEOPLE WOULD LIVE THERE.

tHATS HOW IT GOES WTH AREAS m AL THEY START TO CHANGE ..I LIVE FAR FROM THOSE AREAS , THANK GOODNESS, AND MY AREA IS ONE OF THE BEST STILL LEFT IN bROOKLYN, ACTUALLY, LIKE I ONCE MENTIONED - THEY ARE STILL BUILDING LIKE CRAZY HERE, AND THE HOUSES ARE SNAPPED UP IMMEDIALTELY! MOSTLY BY ORIENTALS AND rUSSIANS! THEY LOVE THIS AREA FOR SOME REASON- PROBABLY FOR ITS CONVENIENCE! TRANSPORTATION AND EASY ACCESS TO EVERYTHING-

I WAS UP TO ALMOST 2 AM LAST NIGHT mAL- I HAD TROUBLE WITH MY COMPUTOR ! WAS ON WITH TECH SUPPORT FOR AGES- I WAS SO TIRED THIS MORNING AND I WAS WOKEN UP EARLY BY A !DELIVERY TOO! i HAVE BEEN PLAYING YOUR CD'S - VERY NICE MUSIC ! i HAVE SOLVED THE PROBLEM OF HAVING NO CHECKS- I AM GOING TO USE MY DEBIT CARD- THAT WAY I CAN HAVE IT TAKEN OUT ELETRONICALLY FROM MY CHECKING ACCOUNT- I SHOULD HAVE THOUGHT OF IT BEFORE ! mY CHECKS WILL NOT ARRIVE TILL THE WEEK AFTER THANKSGIVING....

I HAD A LETTER FROM mARSHALLS YESTERDAY- THEY WANT ME TO GO FOR AN INTERVIEW ON sUNDAY , dECEMBER 6TH, I HOPE I GET LUCKY BECAUSE I WILL HAVE NO TRAVELLING THEN..

wELL mAL I WILL FINISH NOW, HAVE A NICE WEEK-END AND I WILL SEE YOU SOON I HOPE.

I know this doctor that says he can get me into one of the office's that he has anyway- so i am not worried..used to know my husband! Indian Radiologist.. nice man!
